With the summer months so darn hot, humid, sticky, and such poor air quality, I have put my run training on hold until sometime in late September. I realize I'll probably have to start all over again, but my goal is to increase my overall endurance and strength by doing other activities.
Today was my first day towards that goal. I actually went to the gym and did my own thing. No trainer. No class. Just me, my imagination, determination, headphones, and iPod. I felt a little self-conscious at first, but eventually ignored it and just enjoyed the small personal accomplishment. My goal is to do this on my off-class nights, which means Mondays and Fridays. It will possibly mean this Wednesday too, depending on what time the movie lets out. I may have time to make it to the gym since we're going to the 3:45 show.
